Our Story

In elementary school, I fell in love with art. I remember the buzz of excitement I felt whenever I remembered I'd soon be entering the haven of art class with my favorite teacher, Ms. K, every Thursday.

Many years later, in my junior year of high school, I took an art history class and fell in love. This time, with a new side of art. But that's when I realized that growing up, art class consisted of only the same few names: Van Gogh, da Vinci, Michelangelo, Monet. While these artists are important, they're only a small part of the world's cultural history.

From an early age, many of us are introduced to art through a Eurocentric lens, often not realizing how much of the artists, cultures, stories, and world are rarely included or missing in the art education we grow up with. When those perspectives are left out, so is the opportunity for many young people to see themselves reflected in what they learn.

I hope to bring a broader, more global understanding of our society to a younger audience and provide representation and inspiration for groups from all backgrounds so that every child can see a part of themselves in the world.
