Behind Us
From an early age, art class can consist of only the same few names: Van Gogh, da Vinci, Michelangelo, Monet. While these artists are important, they're only a small part of human history.
Many young people are introduced to art through a confined lens, often not realizing how much of the world is rarely included or missing in the (often limited) art education received. As a result, even in the most innocent of activities like art class, young people miss the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the classroom. Artistry Explorers is a global initiative that aims to diversify the art curricula so that every child can see themselves in the world.

More Than Just Art
Arts education in schools in the U.S. is rapidly declining. Over the past decade, urban school districts have reported a 20% decrease in arts funding, limiting access for many students.
Yet research consistently shows the impact of arts education:
-
Students from low-income backgrounds who are highly engaged in the arts are 2x more likely to graduate from college than those with no arts engagement.
-
Students involved in the arts are 4x more likely to be recognized for academic achievement and experience a 10% reduction in disciplinary infractions and suspensions.
-
Arts education improves social-emotional and interpersonal skills, builds empathy, reduces intolerance, and generates acceptance of others.
Arts education changes lives. Our mission is to ensure every child has the opportunity to experience its lifelong benefits.

Our Curriculum
Through hands-on creative experiences, we invite participants to journey across continents and centuries and see the world through art.

Rewriting the narrative.
Artistry Explorers aims to highlight the many cultures and stories that are too often left out of the formal art curriculum. We hope to bring a more nuanced understanding of our society to a younger audience and provide representation and inspiration for groups from all backgrounds.

Volunteering is virtual or in-person and can be done from any location regardless of country, state, continent, etc.
